Week 5 March: “I Have Remembered My Covenant”

Week 4 March: “I Have Remembered My Covenant”

Scriptures: Exodus 1–6
Theme: God remembers His covenants and helps us do His work.

1. God Remembers His Promises

Scripture Focus: Exodus 6:6–7

Discussion:

  • How do we know God remembers His promises?

  • When have you felt God’s help?

Activity Ideas:

  • Promise Cards: Draw or write one promise from God. Hang where children can see it.

  • Writing Practice: Have children write the word “God”, “help”, or “promise” on a tracing sheet.

Math Connection:

  • Counting Promises: Count how many promises are written on cards or displayed.

  • Sorting: Sort promises by type (help, love, protection, guidance).

2. God Can Work Through Me

Scripture Focus: Exodus 1–2

Discussion:

  • How did Moses’ mother, sister, and Pharaoh’s daughter help?

  • How can we help others in God’s work?

Activity Ideas:

  • Helping Hands Craft: Trace your hands; write or draw ways to help others.

  • Writing Practice: Short sentences like: “I can help by _______.”

Math Connection:

  • Hands Counting: Count the traced hands. Add or subtract ways to help.

  • Patterning: Decorate hands with color patterns (e.g., red-blue-red-blue).

3. Treat Holy Places with Reverence

Scripture Focus: Exodus 3:1–5

Discussion:

  • How did Moses show reverence at the burning bush?

  • What sacred places do we have?

Activity Ideas:

  • Reverence Hunt: Identify or draw sacred places at home/school.

  • Writing Practice: Draw a picture of a sacred place and write “This is sacred.”

Math Connection:

  • Position Words: Place objects “near” or “far” from a sacred item (prepositions).

  • Counting Steps: Count steps when children pretend to approach a holy place (linking physical movement to numbers).

4. God Will Help Me Do Hard Things

Scripture Focus: Exodus 3–4

Discussion:

  • How did Moses feel?

  • How can God help us when things feel hard?

Activity Ideas:

  • Moses Role-Play: Use props like a flashlight for the burning bush.

  • Writing Practice: Write a sentence: “God helps me ______.”

Math Connection:

  • Sequencing: Order steps Moses took (heard God → asked questions → obeyed).

  • Simple Addition: Count objects Moses might have seen in the desert or around the bush (rocks, plants, animals).

5. Connecting to Jesus Christ

  • Just as Moses delivered Israel, Jesus delivers us spiritually.

  • Activity: Draw a comparison chart with Moses and Jesus, writing 1–2 words for each (e.g., “Deliverer,” “Guide”).

  • Math Connection: Count the number of ways Jesus helps us (draw symbols or tally marks).

Optional Craft & Game Ideas

  • Burning Bush Craft: Use tissue paper flames; write ways God helps us.

  • Number Game: “Steps to Help” – children roll dice to move forward on a path to help someone, counting steps.

  • Tracing: Words like God, Help, Moses, Promise.
