Week 4 April - May: God Has Given Me Gifts to Help with His Work
Week 4 April - May
Exodus 35–40; Leviticus 1
“God Has Given Me Gifts to Help with His Work”
Scripture Focus
Heavenly Father blesses each of us with special gifts to help build His kingdom and bless others. When we use those gifts to serve, we show our love for Him.
Lesson Idea: “God Has Given Me Gifts to Help with His Work”
Read or summarize Exodus 35:20–29; 36:1 together.
Talk about how the Israelites brought their talents and treasures to help build the tabernacle. Some gave gold or fabric, others used their skills to craft and build.
Activity:
Invite your child to draw or name something they are good at—helping, drawing, singing, building, comforting others, or making people smile.
Then talk about how they can use that gift to help Heavenly Father’s work.
Music Time:
Sing “I Will Be What I Believe”
Pause to talk about how using our talents can be a way of showing our faith.
Elementary Extension:
Make a “Gift to God” mini poster. Have your child write or draw three talents they have and one way they can use each talent to help others this week.
Scripture Connection
Discuss Exodus 36:1 and how the Lord gave Bezaleel and Aholiab wisdom and skills to help build His tabernacle.
Explain that Heavenly Father gives each of us talents through the Spirit so we can do good things.
Ask: “What is something you can do to help build Heavenly Father’s kingdom?”
Reading Practice:
Trace and read: “God has given me gifts to help His work.”
Sight words: help, gift, give, love, work
“I Can Feel the Lord’s Presence in Holy Places” — Exodus 40:17–34
Read together how the Israelites built a beautiful tabernacle where the Lord could dwell among them.
Show a picture of the Rome Italy Temple or your nearest temple, and talk about how temples are holy places today.
Activity:
Build a simple “tabernacle” using blocks, pillows, or cardboard boxes.
As you build, talk about what makes a place feel holy—quiet voices, kind hearts, and feeling the Spirit.
Elementary Add-On:
Have your child write a few sentences describing what makes the temple special to them.
Math Connection:
Count how many parts you used to build your pretend tabernacle. Sort them by color or size and make a simple bar graph.
“Because of the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ, I Can Be Forgiven” — Leviticus 1:1–4
Explain that in Old Testament times, people offered animal sacrifices to help them remember Jesus Christ’s future sacrifice for their sins.
Now we remember Him through the sacrament and by offering our hearts to Him.
Activity:
Look at pictures of Jesus in Gethsemane and on the cross.
Talk about what it means to give Jesus your heart—being kind, saying sorry, forgiving others, and praying.
Then draw a big heart and write or draw ways to “give your heart to Jesus.”
Elementary Extension:
Read 3 Nephi 9:19–20 together and talk about what it means to have “a broken heart and a contrite spirit.”
Invite your child to write one way they can show humility and love for the Savior this week.
