Week 3 September: Jesus Christ Saves, Protects, and Restores

Week 3 September: Jesus Christ Saves, Protects, and Restores

Isaiah 14:3; 25:8–9; 28:16

Jesus Christ can save me from sin and death.
Help your children see the Savior in Isaiah by finding phrases that remind them of Him in Isaiah 14:3; 25:8; 28:16. Then match these verses with others about the Savior, such as Matthew 11:28–30; 1 Corinthians 15:53–57; Helaman 5:12.

Activity:

  • After reading Isaiah 25:8–9, look at pictures of the Savior in Gethsemane, on the cross, and after His Resurrection.

  • Children can talk about what is happening in the pictures and why they love Jesus.

  • Optional: Draw a crying face and erase the tears as you read Isaiah 25:8 together.

Math Connection:

  • Count the number of pictures of Jesus shown in each moment (Gethsemane, Crucifixion, Resurrection).

  • Compare: Which moment had the most people in it? Which had the fewest?

Isaiah 25:4–6

Jesus gives me “refuge from the storm.”
Ask children to recall times they experienced shelter in a storm, shade on a hot day, or a good meal when hungry. Compare these to how Jesus provides comfort and refuge.

Activity:

  • Create a “storm chart”: Draw a simple storm (clouds, rain, wind) and label ways Jesus helps us through storms in life.

Math Connection:

  • Count the number of ways Jesus provides refuge.

  • Make a simple addition: If Jesus helps us 2 ways today and 3 ways tomorrow, how many ways in total?

Isaiah 29:11–18, 24

The Restoration of the gospel is a “marvellous work.”
Read Isaiah 29:14 together and discuss synonyms for “marvellous” like wonderful, amazing, or great. Help children identify objects or pictures representing the Lord’s marvelous works: Book of Mormon, temple, First Vision.

Activity:

  • Let each child choose an item and share why it is marvelous to them.

  • Tell a personal story of finding something lost and compare it to the Restoration.

  • Discuss: According to Isaiah 29:13–15, why do we need the Restoration?

Song Connection:

  • Sing “On a Golden Springtime” (Children’s Songbook, 88).

Math Connection:

  • Count the number of marvelous items chosen by the children.

  • Ask: If each child chose 2 items, how many marvelous items are there in total?

  • Optional: Make a simple bar graph showing which marvelous item was chosen most often.

Family Thought & Reflection:

  • How does Jesus save and comfort us?

  • What marvelous things has the Lord done in your life?

  • How can we help others see the marvelous works of the Restoration?

Preschool Add-On:

  • Letter of the Week: R for Refuge / Restoration

  • Number: 3 (three Savior moments: Gethsemane, Crucifixion, Resurrection)

  • Shape: Circle (representing Jesus’ love surrounding us)

  • Color: Gold (marvelous, glorious works)

  • Sight Words: I, can, be, saved

Tracing Sentences:

  • Jesus saves me from sin and death.

  • Jesus gives me refuge from the storm.

Craft Idea:

  • Make a “Refuge Shield”: Children draw or decorate a shield and write ways Jesus protects them.

Early Elementary Add-On:

  • Reading & Writing Extension: Write a short paragraph: “How Jesus Saves and Comforts Me.”

  • Math Extension: Keep a tally of blessings or marvelous works seen during the week and create a graph at the end.
