Week 1 January - February: God Can Help Me Do Hard Things
Week 1 January - February: God Can Help Me Do Hard Things
Scriptures: Moses 6:26–34
God Helps Us Do Hard Things
Enoch teaches us that even when we feel worried or unsure, God can give us strength. When Enoch was called to preach, he worried he might fail—but Heavenly Father helped him. You can explore this with your children in a fun, interactive way:
Activity Idea – “Story Role Play”:
-
Read Moses 6:26–34 aloud.
-
Ask children to act out parts of the story, pretending to be Enoch or the people he taught.
-
Talk together about a time they faced something hard and how God helped them.
Math & Counting Activity:
-
Give children small objects (beans, buttons, or paper cutouts) to represent people Enoch taught.
-
Ask: “If Enoch taught 3 people and each person told 2 friends, how many people heard the message?”
Original Math Word Problems:
-
“Enoch spoke to 4 people. Each person brought 2 friends. How many people listened?”
-
“There are 5 people praying together. If each person says 3 prayers, how many prayers are said in total?”
-
“Enoch’s group shared 7 seeds among 3 children. How many seeds does each child get?”
Faith, Repentance, Baptism, and the Holy Ghost
Moses 6:50–62 teaches the first principles of the gospel: faith in Christ, repentance, baptism, and receiving the Holy Ghost. You can make this hands-on and memorable:
Activity – “Principle Line-Up”:
-
Place pictures representing each principle (faith, baptism, Holy Ghost, etc.) on a table.
-
Read Moses 6:52 aloud. Each time a principle is mentioned, children stand by the corresponding picture.
-
Encourage children to share stories or examples from their own life of how they have followed each principle.
Song Idea:
-
Sing “Faith,” “When I Am Baptized,” or “The Holy Ghost” (Children’s Songbook, 96–97, 103–105).
-
Ask children to point to the principle they hear in the song.
Parents Teach Their Children
Moses 6:57–58 emphasizes that Heavenly Father wants parents to teach their children. Help your children connect this idea to home:
Creative Craft – “Family Tree of Love”:
-
Have children draw pictures of family members.
-
Connect them with lines to show how your family helps each other learn, pray, and play.
-
Talk about how families can help each other follow Heavenly Father’s teachings.
Creative At-Home Crafts Add-On (Older Preschoolers & Kindergarteners)

Prayer Stones: Paint or decorate small stones and write a word like “pray,” “help,” or “faith” on each. Use them to remind children of ways God helps them each day.
